The 'Magical Journey Shinkansen,' themed on Tokyo DisneySea's 'Fantasy Springs,' will operate for a limited time on the JR East Tohoku Shinkansen starting Thursday, October 10th!

JR East and Oriental Land will operate a special train called the "Magical Journey Shinkansen," themed around "Fantasy Springs," starting on Thursday, October 10, 2024, for a limited period.

Theme

The special train is themed around "Fantasy Springs," a new area in Tokyo DisneySea, which opened in 2024. The area is inspired by Disney movies such as Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan, with iconic locations and characters from these films incorporated into the design. The interior of the shinkansen will be customized to reflect the Disney fantasy atmosphere, including special curtains and onboard melodies.

Train Details

• Type: E5 Series Shinkansen (10-car formation)
• Design: This will be the first fully wrapped E5 Series Shinkansen.

Operating Route

The train will run on the Tohoku and Hokkaido Shinkansen lines between Tokyo and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto stations. It is scheduled to operate as "Hayabusa," "Hayate," "Yamabiko," and "Nasuno."

Start Date

• First Operation: Thursday, October 10, 2024
• First Schedule: Hayabusa No. 2, departing Sendai Station at 6:35 AM and arriving at Tokyo Station at 8:07 AM.

Operation Period

• Duration: From October 10, 2024, until around early June 2025.

Special Interior Features

The train's interior, including curtains, melodies, and other decorations, will be themed around "Fantasy Springs."
