JR Central will implement a timetable revision on March 15, 2025 (Saturday).
Shinkansen:
-
Up to 14 "Nozomi" trains in the 6 AM hour from the Tokyo area: One additional temporary "Nozomi" train will be added to the 6 AM hour from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka, bringing the total number of "Nozomi" trains during this time to a maximum of 14. These trains will operate on weekends and days with high demand for travel to the Kansai region, such as during the Osaka/Kansai Expo.
-
Additional "Nozomi" in the late-night time slot: A temporary "Nozomi" train will be added during the last down-bound time slot from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka. This will be scheduled on days with high passenger demand.
-
Increase in temporary "Nozomi" trains directly connecting to the Sanyo Shinkansen: During high-demand periods, one additional temporary "Nozomi" train per hour will run directly to the Sanyo Shinkansen, bringing the total number of "Nozomi" trains, including regular trains, to a maximum of eight per hour.
-
Late-night temporary "Nozomi" from Tokyo to Hakata: On days with high demand for travel to the Sanyo region, a temporary "Nozomi" train will operate from Tokyo (departing at 19:00) to Hakata, instead of the usual Shin-Osaka service.
-
Expansion of reserved seats for ordinary cars on the "Nozomi": To enhance comfort and ensure seat availability, the 3rd car on all "Nozomi" trains operating on the Tōkaidō and Sanyo Shinkansen will be designated as a reserved seat car.
-
Some Shinkansen toilets to become women-only: In all 16-car trains on the Tōkaidō and Sanyo Shinkansen, about half of the shared toilets will be designated as women-only.
Conventional Lines:
- Improved transfer convenience at Toyohashi Station: At Toyohashi Station, the timetable will be adjusted so that trains connecting Nagoya and Hamamatsu will allow transfers on the same platform during many time slots.
