JR Kyushu 2025 Timetable Revision Overview (March 15, 2025)

JR Kyushu will implement a timetable revision on March 15, 2025 (Saturday).

Kyushu Shinkansen:

  • Changing one "Tsubame" train to "Sakura" between Hakata and Kagoshima-Chuo: One train in the daytime between Hakata and Kagoshima-Chuo will be changed from "Tsubame" to "Sakura" to improve speed.

  • Increase in "Tsubame" trains between Hakata and Kumamoto: One additional "Tsubame" train will be added to alleviate congestion on the Hakata-Kumamoto section.

  • Extension of the late-night "Mizuho 615" from Kumamoto to Kagoshima-Chuo: The "Mizuho 615" train, currently running to Kumamoto, will be extended to Kagoshima-Chuo to improve convenience.

  • New temporary "Sakura" train from Kagoshima-Chuo to Shin-Osaka: A new temporary "Sakura" train departing from Kagoshima-Chuo and arriving in Shin-Osaka around 9:00 AM will be added.

Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen:

  • New stop at Ureshino Onsen Station for "Kamome 1" during the morning commute period: The "Kamome 1" train will stop at Ureshino Onsen Station to improve access to the Nagasaki area.

Limited Express Trains:

  • Fukuoka and Kitakyushu Area:

    • Additional "Kirameki" limited express trains will be added during the morning commute to ease congestion and improve convenience for travelers toward Kokura.
    • Some "Kasasagi" trains will undergo vehicle changes to increase seating capacity and alleviate crowding.
    • Some "Kasasagi" trains will make a new stop at Futsukaichi Station to improve convenience for travelers to and from Hakata.
    • Additional "Kirameki" trains will be added from Yukuhashi to Hakata to improve convenience during daytime hours.
    • "Sonic 46" limited express trains will make new stops at Akama, Fukama, and Kashii stations to improve convenience for travelers from Kitakyushu.
    • Some "Sonic" trains will increase the number of cars to reduce crowding during evening hours.
  • Kumamoto and Oita Area:

    • The "Kyushu Cross-Train" will have one additional round trip to improve travel convenience between Kumamoto and Oita.
    • The "Asoboy!" limited express will be adjusted to operate between Kumamoto and Miyachi with two round trips per day.
  • Miyazaki Area:

    • The timetable for the morning "Hyuga 5" limited express will be adjusted to improve convenience during the commute period.

Rapid and Local Trains:

  • Fukuoka and Kitakyushu Area:

    • Kagoshima Main Line: Additional local rapid trains will be added from Kokura to Hakata during the morning commute period to alleviate congestion.
    • Some local trains during daytime hours will be changed to rapid trains to improve speed between Kitakyushu and Fukuoka.
    • Local trains from Fukuma Station will be increased to improve convenience during the same hours.
    • All non-express rapid trains that do not stop at Ebitsu Station will now make a stop at the station to improve convenience.
  • Fukuoka-Yutaka Line: Some late-night local trains will have their routes extended, and the number of cars will be increased to reduce crowding.

Saga Area:

  • Nagasaki Main Line: Additional local trains to Saga will be added during the morning commute period to ease congestion.
  • Chikushi Line and Karatsu Line: The platforms at Karatsu Station will be unified for transfers to Chikuzen-Maebara, Saga, and Imari-bound trains to improve transfer convenience.

Kumamoto Area:

  • Kagoshima Main Line: Some local trains during the morning commute will have additional cars added to alleviate crowding and improve convenience.
  • Hōhi Main Line: Some local trains will have their routes extended, and the number of cars will be increased to reduce crowding during the morning commute.

Nagasaki Area:

  • Ōmura Line: Some rapid trains during the evening commute will stop at Ōmura Vehicle Depot Station to improve convenience.

Oita Area:

  • Kudai Main Line and Hōhi Main Line: Some local trains during the morning commute on the Kudai Main Line and during the daytime on the Hōhi Main Line will be increased to improve convenience.

Kagoshima Area:

  • Some local trains during the evening commute will be rerouted to terminate at Sendai Station to improve convenience.

New Station Opening:

  • A new station, "Senganen Station," will be opened on the Nichibu Line between Ryūgasu and Kagoshima.
