JR West Sanyo Shinkansen Typhoon No. 10 Response (as of 10:45 AM, August 27)

As of 10:45 AM on August 27, JR West has announced that due to the expected heavy rain and strong winds accompanying Typhoon No. 10, there is a possibility of planned suspensions or long-term service interruptions on the Sanyo Shinkansen between August 29 (Thursday) and August 31 (Saturday).

 

The operation schedule will be determined based on the typhoon's path and intensity, with updates provided as needed. Due to the anticipated disruptions, the following tickets will be eligible for refunds or extensions without any service fees:

Eligible Tickets:

  • Tickets with a validity period that includes dates from August 25 to September 2.
  • Tickets for the Sanyo Shinkansen, Hokuriku Shinkansen (between Tsuruga and Jōetsumyōkō), and any JR West conventional line stations.

Refund/Change Procedures:

  • You can process refunds or changes at any JR station by presenting your ticket.
  • If you booked online, you can complete the process by logging into "EX Reservation" or "e5489."
  • For travel packages purchased through travel agencies, please contact the agency directly.

Please note that the scope of service suspensions and interruptions may change depending on the typhoon's trajectory, so keep a close watch on weather reports and train operation updates.
