On the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines, select "Oversized Luggage Areas" located in some deck sections will be trialed as general luggage spaces that do not require advance reservation starting July 1, 2025.

🧳 How to Use the Luggage Space

Lift the safety bar to prevent luggage from falling, and place your baggage securely.

Please be considerate and share the space with other passengers.

If no space is available, use the overhead racks or other storage areas as usual.
⚠️ For Passengers with Oversized Luggage

If you plan to bring oversized luggage, you must reserve a seat with an “Oversized Luggage Area.”

You cannot use the luggage area in the deck (formerly designated as the "Oversized Luggage Area") for storing oversized luggage during your trip.
