Period of Operation for All-Reserved Seats on the "Nozomi" Trains of the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen During the Year-End and New Year of Fiscal Year 2024

For the year-end and New Year period of fiscal year 2024, the "Nozomi" trains on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen will continue to operate as all-reserved seating. As before, we will utilize the "12 Nozomi trains per hour" schedule on the Tokyo–Shin-Osaka section, and additional trains will be operated on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen, providing plenty of seats.

Normally, the "Nozomi" trains have non-reserved seats in cars 1 through 3.

Implementation Period

From Friday, December 27, 2024, to Sunday, January 5, 2025.

Applicable Sections and Trains

All "Nozomi" trains operating on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen (Tokyo to Hakata) during the above period.

Additional Information

Usage of Non-Reserved Seat Tickets:

During the all-reserved seat period, non-reserved seat ticket holders will not be able to sit on the "Nozomi" trains. However, as usual, other trains (such as the "Hikari," "Kodama," "Mizuho," and "Sakura") will have non-reserved seats.

Passengers holding non-reserved seat tickets may only stand in the deck areas of ordinary cars on "Nozomi" trains. (If you wish to sit in a reserved seat, the corresponding reserved seat ticket fee will be required.)

If non-reserved seats on other trains are crowded during this period, passengers with non-reserved tickets may be directed to stand in the deck areas of ordinary cars on the "Nozomi" trains. In such cases, you may be directed to a different car from where you waited or lined up, which may cause delays in boarding. For the safety of train operations, please cooperate with the instructions of the staff.
