Tohoku, Hokuriku, and Joetsu Shinkansen Services Suspended Due to Train Separation Issue

According to JR East, the Tohoku Shinkansen was suspended between Tokyo and Shin-Aomori stations on the morning of the 6th, starting around 11:30 AM, due to vehicle inspections between Ueno and Omiya stations.

Additionally, a problem occurred where the cars of the Hayabusa and Komachi 21 trains became separated and came to a stop.

There were about 450 passengers on the Hayabusa 21 train and approximately 200 passengers on the Komachi 21 train. The air conditioning on board is functioning normally, and there are no reported injuries. JR East is currently considering ways to assist the passengers.

As a result, the following Shinkansen services are also suspended:

  • Hokuriku Shinkansen: Between Tokyo and Nagano stations (both directions)
  • Joetsu Shinkansen: Between Tokyo and Niigata stations (both directions)
  • Akita Shinkansen: Between Akita and Tokyo stations (upward direction)
