Located in Itsuura (Izura), Kitaibaraki City, Ibaraki Prefecture, teamLab Yūkoku-Onden-Ato opened on September 30, 2024. It transforms an abandoned terraced rice field (“onden-ato”) and surrounding forest into a night museum where art, light, sound, and nature blend to create immersive experiences.

What to Expect / Tips

It’s best experienced at night, when the light and digital art are visible. Day visits will show the terrain and forest, but the main artwork comes alive after dusk.

Because much of the path is forest + ground may be uneven or damp, wear comfortable shoes (water-resistant if possible).

Bring a jacket: nights in forested areas can be chilly.

Photography is popular—long exposures for light scenes will work well. Just be mindful of other visitors and lighting.

Observe quiet times: there’s a “silent time” (from ~23:00 to 7:00) at the glamping site where noise and lighting should be minimized.
