Green Car on Chuo Line Rapid and Ome Line Green Car Trial period starts from October 13th until spring 2025!

JR East plans to introduce Green Car services on the Chuo Line Rapid and Ome Line in the spring of 2025. In preparation for this, from October 13, 2024, E233 series trains with 12-car formations, including Green Cars in the 4th and 5th positions, will be gradually rolled out.

Green Car Service Details:

  • Service Launch: Spring 2025 (Exact date to be announced later)
  • Trial Period: October 13, 2024, to Spring 2025
  • Free Green Car Trial: During this trial, no additional Green Car fees will be required, allowing passengers to experience enhanced comfort for free.

Train Information:

  • Train Type: E233 series
  • Car Formation: 12-car train with Green Cars connected in the 4th and 5th cars from the Tokyo end.
  • Service Routes:
    • Chuo Line Rapid: All trains between Tokyo and Otsuki.
    • Ome Line: All trains running directly between Tachikawa and Ome.

Finding Green Car Services:

  • Station Departure Displays: Check station boards for 12-car trains indicating Green Car availability.
  • Station Announcements: Green Car information will be provided in announcements.
  • JR East App: The JR East app will display train positions and indicate whether the train has 10 or 12 cars, and whether a Green Car is available.

Mixed Train Formations:

  • Until Spring 2025, both 10-car and 12-car formations will be operating.

Green Car Fees After Launch:

  • Green Car Ticket Required: In addition to regular tickets or commuter passes.
  • Pricing: Green Car fares will follow the same pricing structure as other areas in the Tokyo metropolitan region.
  • Mobile Suica: Convenient for purchasing Green Car tickets, with discounts available.
  • JRE POINT Members: Green Car tickets can be purchased with 600 points using the "Suica Green Ticket" feature.
