JR Central will operate the following additional trains during the winter season from December 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
Shinkansen
- Number of Trains: During the winter period, 378 Shinkansen trains will operate daily.
- Increased Nozomi Services: During busy times, up to 12 "Nozomi" trains per hour will be available.
- Year-End/New Year Increased Services: From December 27 to January 5, 429 Shinkansen trains will operate daily.
- All Reserved Seating: During the year-end/New Year period, all "Nozomi" trains will be reservation-only, with no unreserved seating.
Conventional Lines
- Chuo Main Line (Matsumoto, Hakuba Area): 34 "Shinano" limited express trains will run, primarily during weekends and the year-end/New Year period.
- Takayama Main Line (Gero, Takayama Area): A total of 92 "Hida" limited express trains will operate, including the special "Hida 98" departing Takayama at 8 PM for extended stay options.
- Kansai and Kisei Main Lines (Kumano, Kii-Katsuura Area): 28 "Nanki" limited express trains will run.
Seasonal Reserved Seat Fares
- Year-End/New Year Period (December 27–January 5): Fares during this period will be higher due to increased demand, but travel outside of these dates will offer lower fares.
Reserved Seat Sales
- Start Date: Tickets will be available starting one month before the travel date (same day of the previous month) at 10:00 AM at JR stations nationwide.
EX Service
- For the Tokaido, Sanyo, and Kyushu Shinkansen, online reservations and ticketless boarding are available, with bookings possible up to one year in advance.
