Nankai Electric Railway 2200 Series Farewell Operations Announcement

  • Retirement of the 2200 Series Nankai Electric Railway has announced that the 2200 series, which was manufactured in 1969, will retire in the spring of 2025. This will mark the end of the general service for the 2200 series cars, with special commemorative operations to be held.

    Retiring Vehicles:

    • Vehicle Numbers: "Moha 2231", "Moha 2281" & "Moha 2232", "Moha 2282" (2-car sets, 2 sets in total)
    • The 2200 series will cease regular service as general passenger cars, excluding its use as a sightseeing train "Tenku."
  • Restored Livery 2200 Series Train Operations In preparation for its retirement, one set of the 2200 series will be repainted in its original livery, and commemorative operations will be conducted.

    Start Date:

    • January 20, 2025, until spring of the same year

    Restored Livery Design:

    • The body will be painted in Oriental Green with an emerald green stripe (restoring a design from around 30 years ago)

    Headmarks:

    • Two types of commemorative headmarks (designed to match the restored livery)

    Operational Routes:

    • The restored 2200 series train will operate on the Shio-mibashi Line (Shiomibashi to Kishinosato-Tamade), Takashihama Line, Tanagawa Line, Kada Line, Wakayama Port Line, and other routes.

    Key Points:

    • The restored 2200 series will be the first train with a restored livery in Nankai Electric Railway's history, making its farewell operation a highly special event.
