The SCMAGLEV and Railway Park will begin a special exhibition of Dr. Yellow (T4 Formation) in June 2025!
This exhibition commemorates the retirement of the T4 Formation, which played a vital role in ensuring the safety of the Shinkansen.
Features of Dr. Yellow (T4 Formation)
- Role: Conducted inspections of electrical and track equipment approximately once every 10 days on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines (Tokyo to Hakata).
- Operation Start: September 2001.
- Collaboration with T5 Formation: Alternated inspection runs with the T5 Formation, introduced by JR West in 2005.
- Retirement: Concluded its inspection duties and retired in January 2025.
Exhibition Details
- Exhibited Vehicle: 7th car of the Dr. Yellow (T4 Formation).
- Replacement Display: The currently exhibited Dr. Yellow (T3 Formation) 7th car will be returned to JR West after the exhibition concludes.
