JR Hokkaido Announces 2025 Timetable Revision Highlights
On March 15, 2025, JR Hokkaido will implement timetable revisions for local trains, incorporating the introduction of H100 series hybrid railcars and optimizing operations based on usage patterns.
Key Revision Points
1. Introduction of H100 Series Hybrid Railcars
- Target Line: Sekisho Line (Chitose–Shin-Yubari section)
- Details:
- Replacement of 12 KiHa 40 and KiHa 150 series trains with H100 series trains.
- Speed Improvement: Travel times reduced by up to 11 minutes.
- Enhanced Convenience:
- Air-conditioning and low-floor design.
- Wheelchair space and wheelchair-accessible Western-style toilets.
- Doors operated by passengers via push-button at stations.
2. Furano Line Enhancements and Adjustments
- Details:
- Daytime trains originating/terminating at Furano Station will increase capacity from 1-car to 2-car formations (8 trains).
- Nighttime services will be reduced by discontinuing certain trains.
3. Suspension of Selected Train Services
- Target Lines:
- Hanasaki Line
- Senmo Line
- Hakodate Line (Hakodate–Mori section)
- Details: Early morning and late-night trains will be discontinued due to low ridership.
Station Closures and Management Transfers
1. Station Closures (5 Stations)
- Nemuro Line: Higashi-Takikawa Station
- Hanasaki Line: Higashi-Nemuro Station (Nemuro City)
- Soya Line: Onobunai Station, Minami-Horonobe Station, and Nakaumi Station
2. Transition to Municipal Management (1 Station)
- Senmo Line: Midori Station
- Effective Date: April 1, 2025
