The sleeper express "Sunrise Izumo" will be partially suspended in October due to vehicle repairs, while the "Seto" will operate as usual.

On September 12, JR East, JR West, and JR Central announced the suspension plan for the sleeper limited express Sunrise Izumo. On August 29, 2024, at JR West's Goto General Rolling Stock Depot, a Sunrise Seto/Izumo train set (285 series) was damaged after colliding with a scrapped vehicle stored on an adjacent track. Due to the time required for repairs, services on the Sunrise Izumo will be canceled for several days starting mid-October.

Trains affected by suspension:

  • [Tokyo Departure] Sunrise Izumo
Departure: Tokyo 21:50 → Arrival: Izumo City 10:00 the next day
Affected dates: October 15–20, 24, 26 (based on Tokyo departure date)
  • [Izumo City Departure] Sunrise Izumo
Departure: Izumo City 18:57 → Arrival: Tokyo 7:08 the next day
Affected dates: October 14–19, 23, 25 (based on Izumo departure date)

There may be additional cancellations depending on repair progress.

Meanwhile, the Sunrise Seto, which operates between Tokyo and Takamatsu, will continue to run as usual.
